3d-printing-fff-vs-fdm

Desktop FFF printers have made prototyping easier than ever. But when you need more than a one-off model, the differences between hobbyist-grade tools and industrial-grade FDM become hard to ignore. It’s not just about size or price — it’s about whether your part performs in the real world.

In this webinar, experts from Stratasys—the original inventor of FDM technology—and Stratasys Direct will explore what separates true industrial FDM from its consumer-grade counterparts—and why it is a cornerstone of Stratasys Direct's ability to produce exceptional, repeatable 3D printed prototypes and production parts.

Attendees will learn:

  • Why FFF and FDM may look similar—but deliver very different results
  • How industrial FDM unlocks performance through engineered hardware, materials, and tight process controls.
  • When you’ve reached the limits of FFF—and when stepping up to FDM makes sense.
  • How Stratasys Direct bridges in-house capability gaps —from prototyping through production
  • Why capacity, repeatability, and quality matter when it’s time to scale
  • The value of expertise, DFAM optimization, and post-processing when you need solutions beyond the printer.

This insightful session will challenge what you think you know and what’s truly possible with FDM. Register to secure your spot and get access to bonus resources, including a downloadable FDM vs. FFF comparison.
